Alexei Vranich PhD is an anthropologist and archaeologist who can comment about the historical viewpoint of any current event or news topic from natural disasters to travel trends, environment and human development.
Best known for his friendly and approachable style, Dr. Vranich defies the stereotype of stodgy academician. He travels extensively working in the trenches, in the Amazon jungle, and also keeping up with the latest technology in 3D imaging and mapping and computer modeling.
Vranich has lectured extensively at the university, public settings and luxury travel groups. He has extensive on-air camera experience having filmed documentaries and pilots.
His personal interests within the field include:
• Culinary anthropology and global gourmet food
• Home construction and design with an emphasis on historic conservation
• Experimental archaeology (see Reed Boat project)
Dr. Alexei is currently a Research Associate at the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology where he is conducting active research in Peru and developing innovative approaches for the use of digital media in archaeology.
Alexei is bilingual Spanish and English. Conversant in Italian.
